Leadership

Students learn leadership skills at the Leadership Challenge, 2006

Campus Activities is committed to providing leadership training for UH students. The skills learned at leadership events and through leadership positions in our fee-funded groups will enhance your resume, intensify your interactions with fellow students, and prove invaluable in the post-college world. All leadership events are free to student leaders in registered student organizations.

XLR

XLR, or the Executive Leadership Retreat, provides an important leadership development opportunity for compensated student leaders. Based on Kouzes’ and Posner’s The Leadership Challenge, students work on the fundamentals of leadership in today's learning environment.

A one-day, Saturday leadership program is held each semester during the long term. It is an opportunity for students to interact, further develop skills and continue the networking process. Keynote speakers have included UH Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Elwyn Lee, UH Coach Joe Curl and Alissia Rivas from Channel 13 News.

TLC

The Leadership Challenge is held once each semester, and gives all student leaders the opportunity to interact with an external facilitator. Focus is given to learning leadership skills through activities. See pictures.

Mid-Winter Retreat

This overnight experience allows student leaders to further explore leadership challenges and fine-tune those skills that can be taken back to their organizations. See pictures.

Leadership Luncheons

Leadership luncheons provide a simple noon-hour session to assist our organization leaders in their personal development. Topics have included ethics, stress management, organization development, volunteerism, and recruitment/retention.
